System for detailed monitoring and recording of work in progress
DCIx MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is an information system for detailed monitoring and recording of work in progress. It monitors the current status of production orders, status of individual machines, actual assignment of workers to orders, value of work in progress. It receives from workers, or automatically from machines, information about order completion, number of produced or defective parts, and number of hours worked, number of idle hours and the reasons for them. It finds its application both in serial and custom production.
DCIx MES uses the collection of data from workers and machines with the addition of management and recording of movement of components, unfinished products and products in production. For input workers use touch terminals which are adapted for maximum simplicity and speed of information input. Machines transfer information about current status and performance into the system directly, alternatively using integrated sensors and convertors. Using mobile terminals they then record all movements of components and products between individual workstations. Output from the DCIx MES is an overview of the current production status and reports for subsequent evaluation of the whole production process. This overview enables identification of problem areas in the production process and serves for subsequent resolution of these problems.
ico Solution Possibilities of DCIx MES
-
On line – all data is collected in real time and an overview of the entire production is current and valid at every moment.
-
No papers – fully electronic production monitoring is the cure for all ailments of paper records such as delay, transcription errors or loss of reports.
-
Overview for everybody – current state of production is seen not only by the management, but everybody has exactly the information they need.
-
Overview everywhere – production status can be displayed anywhere, on an office computer, on a large screen directly in the hall or on a smart phone anytime during a business trip.
-
Record of work in progress – based on booking of pieces produced, it maintains current levels of work in progress at individual workstations.
-
Replenishment as needed – material is ordered automatically for the workstation and replenishment is performed based on real current production needs.
-
Product overview – constant overview of a product, its progress, number of pieces and movements during the entire production process.
-
Simple interface – touch terminals are simplified to the maximum and guide workers to the correct procedure for work reporting.
-
Instant evaluation – constantly updated recalculation of production efficiency or visualisation of losses and delays makes it possible to flexibly correct production so that customer’s requirements are met.
-
Transparent display – transparent visualisation using colours, symbols and graphs. Production status and results are apparent already at first glance without the need for complex recalculation and detection.
-
Back view – enables to simply identify tight spots and problem processes.
-
Benefits of changes – once corrective measures and changes within production are carried out, status before and after the change will be compared and its success and benefits are evaluated.
-
Detailed production record – manufactured pieces can be recorded not only at a level of orders but also at a level of individual operations.
-
Traceability – the system records the entire history of production, production processes – who, when and on what has worked, with which material, alternatively under what conditions was any particular piece produced. This information is important for any production claims.
-
Integration with surrounding systems – possibility of easy integration with ERP (corporate information systems), APS (systems for production planning and scheduling), WMS (systems for warehouse management) and other systems.
ico Competitive Advantages of DCIx MES
-
Simple user interface – easy implementation, easy integration with work procedures
-
Comprehensive production logistics – movement of material, semi-finished products and products related to the various stages of completeness
-
Production data integrated from the ERP system – no need to rewrite and maintain duplicate data on production orders or production schedules
- Production reporting integrated into an ERP, APS or a WMS system – provision of data accuracy, integration into a standard process, close link to DCIx WMS
-
Total traceability across the whole production process – production is usually a “black hole” without an overview about the movement of material and products
-
Reporting - SQL Server Reporting services or for instance the SAP BusinessObjects
-
Modular system – no need to adapt production to the product, DCIx MES adapts to production and almost any customer wish can be realised without the need to dearly pay for the development of special modifications
