Pilsen, 20.7.2009 - Introduction of a new logistics concept (Neues Logistikkonzept - NLK) for automotive industry suppliers, was the main theme of 7th annual VDA-Praxisforum Logistik, which took place 17 June 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany. The new concept was presented by two leading car manufacturers - Volkswagen and Audi.
The new logistics concept changes communication between VW and its suppliers. It evolves around a fundamental change, whereby the original standard LAB (Lieferabruf) and FAB (Feinabruf) based deliveries are transferred onto PUS (Pick-up-Sheet) based deliveries. Newly, a VAB (Versandabruf) message will be sent in a GLOBAL DELJIT format, and the supplier must print out the PUS in a VDA4939 format modified in accordance with VW needs. At the same time, GLT (Global Transport Label) are being introduced to replace the current VDA labels.
Aimtec corporation, is ready to address the new logistic concept using two products - its own speacialised solution for manufacturing and logistics processes DCI MyAutomotive, and a branch product SappyCar developed on the SAP ERP platform.
This concept is one of projects focused on optimalisation of material flows between car manufacturers and their suppliers. VW will gradually introduce this process to all members of the Volkswagen Group.
