Okula Nýrsko uses DCI MySite to monitor its products

DCI MySite Warehouse Management System Implementation - work in process monitoring in Okula Nýrsko

Pilsen, 20 March 2008 - Okula Nýrsko, a traditional manufacturer of optical frames, and newly also a manufacturer of plastic products, has chosen a new information system. Looking for the most suitable system, the company selected the DCI MySite Warehouse Management System by Aimtec. The system is based on the technology of a unique identification by means of bar codes. The aim of the project is, in the first place, to make the recording of work-in-process (moulding, varnishing, assembly) and of data entry needed for traceability easier and more transparent.

Okula Nýrsko, a.s. is an established Czech business with a long tradition of optical frames manufacturing. Recently, it has started processing plastic materials. The dominant assortment of the plant, which is located in Nýrsko, comprises plastic products manufactured by injecting and blowing moulds. These products represent up to 90% of its total sales, while their importance keeps rising. Okula primarily supplies its products to electric power industry and automotive industry customers. The continually increasing deliveries to the electric power industry, especially to the Panasonic Company located in Pilsen, to which Okula delivers plasma TV castings, have brought about a fast increase in demand for Okula's products. Therefore, the company's management has decided to invest significantly in building a new production plant and in acquiring new information technologies to support the business expansion.

One of these investments concerns the purchase of an information system that should contribute to an easier and more precise recording of work-in-process. The selective procedure was won by the DCI MySite system by Aimtec with its headquarters in Pilsen. The system, thanks to the technology of clear identification by means of bar codes, will ensure for Okula exact and detailed information about its products throughout the production process.

The Aimtec Company has been chosen primarily thanks to its rich experience with customers from the automotive and plastics processing industry. Therefore, Aimtec could offer a comprehensive solution that exactly reflects the specific requirements of the customers from these areas. In addition, Aimtec has an experience of several years with the IBM i5 platform (previously AS/400), which is the basis for the Movex business information system used by Okula.

The DCI MySite solution will provide Okula with detailed information about work-in-process and finished products. It will also generate data for the traceability system (down to individual pieces). Especially for Panasonic, the system will print out labels with 2D codes at the end of the production process. The codes shall contain a row of important data required by Panasonic for traceability purposes.
