DCI MySite manages internal logistics in the Plastika Company

DCI MySite Warehouse Management System Implementation for a significant plastic components manufacturer - Plastika, a.s.

Pilsen, May 19, 2008 - A significant producer of plastic components and supplier to the automotive industry, the Plastika Company, is going to implement a new logistics information system - DCI MySite by the Pilsen-based Aimtec Company. The system uses the technology of clear identification by means of bar codes. In the Plastika Company, the DCI MySite Warehouse Management System shall control shipping processes and materials logistics in the new dispatch warehouse and painting shop components warehouse. The project aim is to gain an overall overview of the situation in the above named warehouses and to collect actual on-line data necessary for warehouses operations, as well as for process planning and control.

The joint stock Plastika Company has an experience of over 50 years in the plastics industry. It produces and suppliers components and sets to the automotive, computer and electronics industries. The main pillars of the Plastika´s production program for the automotive comprise, for example, dashboard panels, headlights, interior parts and rearview mirrors. These parts are delivered to world leading companies, such as Continental Automotive, Magna Slovteca, TI Automotive, TRW-Carr and Automotive Lighting. Other significant customers of Plastika include, for example, Fujitsu Siemens Computers - the world leading computer company, or SONY - producer of televisions and digital devices. As Plastika has faced an unceasing increase in the demand for its products, it had to enlarge its production activities substantially. This brought about higher requirements for semi-finished and finished products storage and handling. Therefore, the management of Plastika decided to make a significant investment, both in building new warehouses and purchasing information technologies to support the new processes in a reliable way.

The selective procedure regarding the supplier of the new technologies was won by the Aimtec Company that first performed an analysis of the legacy internal logistics processes and suggested an optimal solution. Subsequently, Aimtec was chosen to implement the new logistics system itself. A key role in the success of Aimtec in the selective procedure played its comprehensive bid that included both the system implementation and consulting services in the area of automotive logistics management, a branch, where Aimtec can boast an experience of over ten years.

In Plastika, the DCI MySite Warehouse Management System shall control semi finished products storage and material logistics (in the painting shop), as well as control finished products shipping (including receipt to warehouse, placement in storage, issue of semi-finished products to production and shipping to customers). In future, it is planned to implement the DCI system also in other areas of internal logistic, such as storage and material handling.
